There are plenty of employees, who avoid using their vacation days. Despite of the law changes from a few years ago, according to which staff members are required to use all of their days off, they seldom do so.
In the USA, this situation has escalated even further. The law does to oblige employers to give their staff paid vacation days and, on top of that, the last data indicates that 40% of all US employees don’t utilize their time off.

This refusal to go on a vacation, is often due to the fear of the company realizing that it can do fine without an employee, if he or she has been absent for long enough.
However, an in-house analysis, done by the audit firm EY, has proven that those employees, who use all of their vacation days, achieve better results, when their work is evaluated.
In the USA and Canada, the statistical data indicates that employee performance improves with an average of 8%, per 10 days of vacation.
It is only natural to conclude that a healthy work-life balance leads to positive results, both on a professional and a personal level. Doing better at work can also easily result in promotions.
